Smart Fashion in Mongolia

In September 2018, Alliance Française d’Oulan-Bator and Goethe-Institut Mongolia organized the workshop Smart Fashion in Mongolia in collaboration with local partners : Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture,  Mongolian University of Science and Technology and Mongolian Professional Designers Union. The workshop was led by a French-German team of experts and was dedicated to the connection between tradition and digital technologies in fashion design.

The French expert was Audrey Briot. Her workshop entitled “From fibers to micro-controllers” took place at Mongolian University of Science and Technology and explored the Mongolian craftsmanship and customs in the digital age. Participants discovered various technologies and different ways to create soft electronic circuits based on their cultural heritage. She got help from the fashion designer Martin Bady to lead the workshop.

Before this 5 days workshop, the designers in charge of the workshop decided to undertake an immersive trip in Central Mongolia to get a better understanding of the Mongolian culture throughout heritage and everyday life.

The aim of this website, initiated by the french experts, is to promote this pioneer initiative in Mongolia by creating a platform to share knowledges in electronic textiles. The contributions will be written in English by the experts and in Mongolian by the students who attended the workshop.
